چکیده

Food poisoning by staphylococcal enterotoxins (SE) is a major cause of foodborne illness, often associated with coagulase-positive staphylococci (CPS). The increase in the number methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains another problem CPS. However, reports association SE and coagulase-negative (CNS) are beginning to re-emerge. In this context, aim study investigate presence enterotoxin genes characterize phenotypic genotypic antimicrobial resistance 66 isolates spp. (47 CNS 19 CPS) recovered from ready-to-eat (RTE) street food sold Maputo, Mozambique. Seven virulence encoding (sea, seb, sec, sed see) two toxins (hlb sak) were screened multiplex PCR (MPCR). Antimicrobial against 12 antibiotics was evaluated disk diffusion method. penicillin, methicillin, vancomycin erythromycin (blaZ, mecA, vancA, vancB, ermA, ermB ermC) also PCR. At least one seven assessed detected 57.9% 51% CPS isolates, respectively. most frequent gene hlb (47.4%), followed sec (15.8%) sea, seb 5.3% each. (36.2%) sak (17%), (14.9%), (12.8%) (6.4%). Five twelve which antibiotic-resistant. All harboring (n = 27, 57.4%) antimicrobial-resistant. prevalence multidrug higher (59.6%) than (26.3%) isolates. Regarding antibiotic-resistance genes, blaZ (penicillin-resistant) both (42.1%) (87.2%), mecA (encoding methicillin resistance) vancA (vancomycin-resistant), represented 36.8% 31.6% 46.8% vancomycin-resistant has been increasing worldwide and, our knowledge, first report occurrence These results emphasize need parallel CPS, as constitute public health hazards, given their potential produce spread genes.

Prevalence of enterotoxin-encoding genes and antimicrobial resistance in coagulase-negative and coagulase-positive Staphylococcus isolates from black pudding.

INTRODUCTION Staphylococcal species are pathogens that are responsible for outbreaks of foodborne diseases. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of enterotoxin-genes and the antimicrobial resistance profile in staphylococcus coagulase-negative (CoNS) and coagulasepositive (CoPS) isolates from black pudding in southern Brazil. METHODS Two hundred typical and atypical colonie...

Coagulase-negative strains of Staphylococcus pyogenes.

The isolation of two coagulase-negative strains of Staphylococcus pyogenes is reported, and their biochemical characteristics are given. The reliability of coagulase tests alone in the identification of Staph. pyogenes is discussed, and the deoxyribonuclease test is recommended as a useful confirmatory test.

Prevalence of the Antibiotic Resistance Genes in Coagulase-Positive-and Negative-Staphylococcus in Chicken Meat Retailed to Consumers

The use of antibiotics in farm management (growing crops and raising animals) has become a major area of concern. Its implications is the consequent emergence of antibiotic resistant bacteria (ARB) and accordingly their access into the human food chain with passage of antibiotic resistance genes (ARG) to the normal human intestinal microbiota and hence to other pathogenic bacteria causative hum...

Detection of Classic Enterotoxin Genes and Coagulase Gene Typing of Staphylococcus Aureus Isolated from Raw Cow Milk in Isfahan

Background and Aims: Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is considered as one of the most dangerous pathogenic bacteria due to the production of extracellular toxins. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of S. aureus and to characterize the recovered strains for their enterotoxin-producing genes in raw cow milk. Materials and Methods: During 9 months duration of the s...

Macrolide-lincosamide-streptogramin resistance phenotypes and genotypes of coagulase-positive Staphylococcus aureus and coagulase-negative staphylococcal isolates from bovine mastitis

BACKGROUND There are limited data available on macrolide-lincosamide-streptogramin (MLS) resistance of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS) from bovine milk in China. To address this knowledge gap, MLS resistance was determined in 121 S. aureus and 97 CoNS isolates. Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of MLS antibiotics were determined by an agar di...
